If you have any experience with betting on horse races, you will surely notice how several bettors are actually betting forecasts instead of making straight bets. This is because forecast betting can be quite rewarding and much more interesting to follow. Generally, your risks are also higher — equal to the higher return — since you need to be able to create a solid forecast as you place your bet.
There are three types of forecast bets. The first one is known as Quiniela or reverse forecast. You bet on two horses to finish first and second, no matter in what order they rank. This is actually very simple, since all you have to do is pick two of — according to your calculations — the strongest horses or two horses with highest chances of winning the race.
The second forecast bet is called Perfecta or Exacta. As the name suggests, it is a straight forecast bet; you need to choose the winner and runner-up correctly in order to win the bet. If both horses finishes first and second, yet the order is not correct, then you simply lose the bet. This may be a bit harder to do, and calculating straight forecast may require more efforts.
Next, we have Trifecta or Tricast — the treble forecast — where you must pick three horses that finish first, second, and third in the correct order. If you think Trifecta is difficult, you should see Superfecta, known as the legendary perfect forecast bet, where you must pick four horses in the correct order. The harder the forecast is, the bigger reward you will get from the bet.
